Yoga nidra or 'yogic sleep' is a gentle and powerful meditative tool that helps develop a very important ability: your ability to calm and focus your mind. In this world, the default is for our minds to exist in states of continuous partial attention. It is said that without awareness there is no choice--when the mind runs wild, we suffer. The practice of yoga nidra has been used for spiritual purposes to help expand the dimensions of consciousness to which one has access. But in Western society, it has been used more recently to treat stress, anxiety, depression, help with sleep, and relieve symptoms of chronic pain and PTSD. In yoga nidra, you are guided through a meditation that focuses your attention in different ways, like on body feelings, breath, emotions, and mental imagery. With practice, you learn to be 'asleep'--very deeply relaxed--while still highly and flexibly aware. Join us to explore your inner world and see what happens! Wear comfortable clothing, as you will be relaxing the whole time--all you have to do is follow the voice.
